Simple drawer pulls usually include the bar pull, the cup pull and the curved handle pull types. Then there are the sophisticated looking ones such as bail pulls, pendant pulls, antique pulls and bird cage pulls. Each of these pulls has their own design and variation. Therefore, when you go to the hardware store or an online store, chances are that you may find it difficult to choose between so many exotic designs.
Cylindrical bar pulls are simple yet elegant and can be made of steel or brass. The beauty is in their simplicity. The curved pull is a variation of the bar pull and can be flat or cylindrical. Bail pulls, pendant pulls and antique pulls are works of art and are best suited to antique furniture.

Changing pulls on drawers of a dresser or kitchen cabinet is easy and you can even be creative about it. There are many different styles you can choose from, depending on the age and style of the dresser drawers you want to modify. Simply put antiques on your piece of furniture and make it look like a vintage piece or rejuvenate an old piece with a coat of paint and new pulls. You can also make them yourself, if you feel creative and like arts and crafts. Buy simple ones and paint them, decorate them with shells, bright clear micro-beads, or wrap them with beautiful copper wire.

Drawer pulls come in a number of attractive designs and styles. They adorn your storage chests, sofa tables and vanity tables. Drop pulls come in beautifully carved designs and can reflect themes from vintage to Victorian. They are mostly made of metal as weight plays an important role. They are little pieces of artwork that add flair to your furnishings. The old bin pulls or cup pulls are still being manufactured. However, the modern ones are designed to look more appealing and come in a wider range of designs. Brass drawer pulls look good on contemporary furniture whereas silver or stainless steel pulls look good on lighter European designs.

Drawer pulls are fun because you can revamp a dresser just by changing the style of the pulls. A coat of paint and new pulls and there you have it: a new dresser. Will you put just one pull in the middle of the drawer? Or will you choose smaller pulls and put two on each drawer? If you pick two per drawer, make sure they aren’t too large. In your hand in the store, the pulls will look small but on the drawer, they might take more room than you thought. Drawer pulls are neat because they give the essence of the drawer: colorful plastic pulls for a child’s dresser; Victorian ring pulls for a vintage look; or simple straight stainless steel for the den.

You have a nice dresser to recuperate and while you block the holes from the drawers, you wonder if you should use knobs or pulls. Pulls it is. They come in a much larger variety and design than knobs, which are usually round. They stimulate your creativity in that you can shop from a hardware store to a thrift store and find many assortments of pulls to choose from. Pick them all from the same design or pick two or three different designs in the same finish and create a unique piece of furniture. The design you will choose can identify the room in which you will put the furniture. You can even buy some for appliances to match your kitchen drawers.

Take a look at some old wardrobe drawers that have come down from the previous generation. You will notice that they are fitted with intricately carved metal or wooden pulls. Although they no longer sparkle, the designs of these hand crafted pieces of hardware cannot be replicated by modern machines. A cabinet pull is attached with two screws, unlike a knob, and is easy to fix and replace. Therefore if you want to give your kitchen, your living room or your bathroom a new look, you can do so by replacing each and every cabinet and drawer pull. Depending on your home décor, you can choose between wood, glass, acrylic, brass or crystal. They can come with various finishes and can be polished, tinted or lacquered.

Drawer pulls are probably the easiest, cheapest and quickest way to rehab an old set of drawers. There is a huge variety of drawer pulls on the market, including many interesting types that will give your drawers a whole new look. Glass, porcelain, metal and wood drawer pulls are all available in wonderful designs that will spice up an old set of drawers. Glass pulls often take after styles of vintage or antique drawer pulls. They have an elegant and rich look to them. They work great on a plain chest of drawers painted in a solid color or one with a very small amount of painted embellishment or carving. Porcelain drawer pulls are often plain white or off white in color but sometimes have delicate floral designs. Like glass drawer pulls, they tend to lend an antique look to a set of drawers but are a little more delicate in appearance. Metal drawer pulls are probably the most common and have a huge amount of versatility. They can be either hand made, forged or cast. They can easily be very personalized. For a unique look, try adding different pulls to the same set of drawers. You can try using a theme, like tropical or nautical, to keep the design unified. Replacing drawer pulls is an easy and fun decorating project to undertake. A little bit of paint or a new finish combined with new drawer pulls can turn an old chest of drawers into a new one.

Pulls and handles are touched each time a door is opened or closed. Hands leave a deposit of oils and dirt on the hardware pulls that, over time, will wear away and dull the finish. Hardware pulls that show signs of age and use can affect the otherwise pristine look of the rest of the décor. There are two things you can do to keep this from happening. The first, of course is to ensure that the hardware pulls you buy are of the best quality with coatings to protect the finish. The second is, just to wipe the pulls regularly with a damp cloth to clean away the oil and grime. Any other cleaning should be only as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
